Despite the fact that classical music is not particularly popular-in Spain, operas and concerts being comparatively rare even in the capital, it is interesting that Madrid should have a fine circulating library of music. The library, which is tho property of the municipality, contains 4000 pieces of classical music, most of which are gifts of residents of tho city. , The collection is used extensively, especially to students of music, and it is hoped to increase its scope by inaugurating a collection of phonograph records of notable works.
