ST JOHN AMBULANCE.
BUILDING FUND COMMITTEE. A meetinsr of the special building fund appeal executive of the St. John Ambulance Association was held on Tuesday evening: Present, Dr. J. B- j Thomas (chairman), Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Dr. F. J. Borrie, Messrs M. C. Buchanan, H. L. Bowlcer, J. W. Crampton, A. Wiliams, F. Eudd, J. F. Grierson (organiser), and C. J. Treleaven (secrotoDr Borrie reported that he and Mi J. Peek lind visited Lyttelton and had been well received by the Lyttelton Borough Council. A committee wns being formed there. Yesterday, visits imd been paid to Oxford and Darheld, where good receptions were given The Canterbury Trades and Labour Council wrote that at a recent meeting it had been decided that the Council's affiliations should be advised to support the St. John Ambulance Association. It was decided that the Council be asked to send n representative to the executive of the St. John Ambulance Association. The canvassing committee reported that a number of men were giving their services, and some considerable sums ha<J already been promised. iThe organiser reported on deputations which had been arranged to wait on borough and county councils with a view to obtaining assistance either by making grants or calling public meetings in their districts. Mr Crainpton reported that at a meeting of the St. John Ambulance Citizens' Committee it wns decided that tho following institutions should be waited on by various deputations:— Women's Club, Queen's Club. Y.M.C.A., and Y.W.C.A. Mr AV. J. Hunter was added to the committee.
