DESERTER FINED.
(ritESS ASSOCIATION TELEQHAM.) BT.KNHEIM, December 2. Charged with deserting from tho ship, Kia Ora, at Wellington on May 14th, 1928, Owen Derrick, aged 41 years, pleaded guilty. The charge was an unusual one for Blenheim, and accused's appearance here is accounted for by the lac'' that he was arrested at Wliaranui. ' Sergeant Petersen mentioned that tho Shipping Company did not want tho man back. He added that police costs totalling £3 Os 6d had been incurred, and accused was in a position to pay- . A -. , . , Derrick was convicted and fined £2, plus £3 Os 6d costs.
