MAURICE CHEVALIER IN "THE BIG POND." Wo have just been informed, per medium of the English cables, of the tremendous sensation caused by the appearanco of Maurice Chevalier iu London last week. Next in importance to his personal appear' ance on the stage will bo his appeurance on the screen at the Crystal Palace on Mon day noxt in his latest all-talking romantic comedy, "The Big Pond." Chevalier is a great artist with a wonderful personality, and it is no wonder that he is sucb a popular favourite, particularly among the fair sex. In "The Big Pond" the versatile Chevalier plays a new kind of role, that of a penniless French nobleman who attempts to mix money-making with love-making, and, of course, the latter he does to perfection He sings a number of new songs in biß own irrepressible style; two, in particular, "You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me" and "Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight." are bound to become popular in Christchurch. Chevalier scores the biggest success of his meteoric career in "The Big Pond." The box plans open to-morrow at The Bristol Piano Company.
