OBITUARY.

MR AV. R. S. HICKSON. ISEBSS iSSOCIATIOK lILIGSiM.) WELLINGTON', December .1. The death of Mr W. R. S. (Stan) Hickson occurred suddenly yesterday. He had been associated with the A.M.P. Society for 38 years and was a prominent player in his day on the cricket and hockey fields. Mr Hickson was well-known by people in many walks of life, and was highly respected. He was born fifty-three years ago in Greymouth, where his father was manager of the National Bank. Starting with the A.M.P. Society as a cadet he rose to the position of accountant. As a cricketer, he gained Wellington representative honours. His first representative match was against Trott's Australian Eleven in 1896, and another overseas team which he played against was Wynyard's M.C.C. team, which visited Wellington in 1906-7. His brother, Claude, was a New Zealand representative at hockey. He represented Wellington and the North Island. Mr Hickson leaves a widow and three children (two girls and a boy). MR T. H. ANDERSON. Mr Thomas Henry Anderson, tho oldest member of the King's Empire Veterans in Auckland, died at. Ponsonby last week, aged 84 years. He was born in London in 1846. and cam© out to Auckland with his parents. Later he entered the ship-building trade. For his se'rvice in the Maori War Mr Anderson held the New Zealand Medal and tho Volunteers' Long; Service Medal. After living in Auckland and Christchurch for some time he spent 14 years in Napier, and then returned to Auckland. Mr Anderson was twice married, his second wife being Miss Foster, of Hobart, daughter of Mr W. Foster. They were married in March, 1879, at Christchurch, and celebrated their golden wedding last year. Mrs Anderson survives her husband, there are many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
