MAORI CONCERT PARTY.
A party of Maoris from Tuahiwi and Cbristchuroh gave a concert in the Jellicoe Hall lost evening, the proceeds being in aid of the funds of the Waipounamu School for Maori Girls, Ferry road. Included in the comprehensive programme were pois, double single, and long, hakas, songs, and items fiom a string orchestra. The canoe poi was particularly fascinating, the audience gazing in frank admiration of the deft manner in which the twirling pois were manipulated By the smiling girls. The protruding tongues and rolling eyes seen in the hakas were very realistic, and at times almost frightening. Two violin solos by Mr Nihoniho were very well received. During the evening that ptaintive and haunting song "E Pare Ra" sung in chorus by the whole company.
