NEW ZEALAND AND THE SLUMP.
TO THE KDITOa O* THS PBSSS
Sir,—l should like nsk, * may, two questions about New Zealand and the slump. 1. M*c pay for our best lnnil, which will carry two cows to throe acres, about £4O per aero, which at five per cent, represents £2. In Australia the same land is worth about £9. or I'S per year. In Canada or the Argentine the price is even less. My education is very limited, but 1 figure we have about 30s handicap on ihe world s markets. Am I not right? 2. I believe from what I read that li.rth control is spreading rapidly in Kngland and Europe, our chief ninrkcts, w'hile oh the other hand science is teachina us to double our produce ofE the same area, and also how to K-iirk larger tracts of land. Now, Sir, if this be so, with increased production and decreased consumers, where will the slump endP The wheat market stands as an illustration.— Yours, etc., ' MOURAXGI. Sp.ringston, November 30th, IQSO.
