TO THE BDITOB OV TUB FBEHI>. Sir,—l see that the poor old s.s. Mararoa is shortly to be scuttled in Cook Strait. Forty-four years ago I was a settler near Gisborne, and I well remember in 1886 how crowds of the townspeople cheerfully paid half a crown in order to go out in the tender to view this last word in passenger steamers. And now she is to be scrapped! Sic transit gloria.—Yours, etc., SENEX. December Ist, 1930.
