CANTERBURY REGIMENTAL BAND.
INSPECTION AND MARCH THROUGH CITY. The band of the First Battalion of the Canterbury Regiment assembled at the King Edward Barracks last evening under Lieutenant C. H. Hoskins, and created considerable interest by the parade and by the scarlet uniforms worn by the members. An entirely voluntary body, the band is £ari-£jng put its .programme as -iu
"past years although ordinary training in the regiment has been suspended, -and it is intended that similar parades should be held through the streets, probably once a month. The uniforms of scarlet tVorn by members of the band are adopted from the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment, to which the Canterbury Regiment is allied," and another notable feature is that there, are still in the band about . half .a dozen.. members of.the band which was overseas durifig the war with the Canterbury Regiment, these men wearing their set-vice ribbons and taking a particular interest in the parades. After a formal inspection at the Barracks by Brigadier M. M. Gard'ner, D:S.O., who. was accompanied by Captain-"W. Murbhy, M.C., the band placed a- programme on the-march past
the Brigadier, later marching along Cashel street to Colombo street, through Cathedral square to Armagh street, thence to Montreal street and back to the Barracks.
