BLIZZARDS IN UNITED STATES.
HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE REPORTED (TTKIT2D rF.E3S ASSOCIATION—B* EL£CTB.IC TELEGUArB- COPYRIGHT.) CHICAGO. November 28. Snowstorms descended from Western Canada to-day, when a sub-zero temperature and heavy blizzards were general, ndding further hardship to the winter's first cold wave, which has already taken 100 or more lives in the northern half of 'ho United States. Temperatures from zero to 14 degrees below were general in Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Northern lowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. The temperature in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Alabama dropped toward freezing to-day, and snow was reported from North Carolina, Virginiaj and Kentucky, and the North Atlantic seaboard States. The cold wave extew'od southward from the Canadian nort:i-west to the interior of Florida. Chilling winds lowered the temperature in the south-west, and only the Pacific States enjoyed pleasant weather. Government weather observers said that uncomfortable temperatures below freezing would prevail in the Middle West to-day and to-morrow The snowstorms would reach into Tllinoir and Indiana by to-night, and would extend with varying intensity across much of the continent. Emergency relief measures for the unemployed were continued in many cities, but despite extraordinary provisions for sheltering the destitute two unemployed men died of exposure in Chicago and one in Minneapolis. Agricultural authorities in the central States snid that an unusually early winter would result in mil'ions of dollors' loss to the farmers unless the snow thawed. The streams and wells were nt low levels, and the farmers would find it necessary to sell their cattle unless the water supplies were roplnnished. The early snow would also prevent Kcestock from finding forage in the harvested maize and grain fields.
