A party of twenty-throe members of the Christchurch Mountaineering Club spent the week-end in camp afc the Canterbury Winter Sports Club but at the foot of Mount Cheeseman in £he Castle Hill range. The climbing men in the party, starting at 3 o'clock yesterday morning, madf the ascent of Mt. Hamilton (about 5000 feet), but cold weather conditions and strong winds were experienced. Those who remained at the hut spent some time in carrying out improvement* to the surlonnding srround. and in cutting a new supply of firewood, while others made the interesting trip through t*ie underi ground river.
