Tie Senior Competition. ■[he match between United I. and Feadslton was the only one at all rfy contested in the first round of tie senior competition. In general, play ra nieven and.the players ill at ease. Ho eight teams all turned out at good itjeigth, although I. A. Seay and D. F. Glanville were notable absent<_t3 from Suited I. and AvonEiide respectively. Ilu Marts- were a little slow at first, bit hardened up during the afternoon. There are still complaints that the centra courts are rather spongy, and sauy players prefer the bottom row. Since only two courts were allowed for iiehmatch, the games were not finished u expeditiously as before. This restriction, however, is a necessary one tow that the A Grade games are played in grass.
