The "Star"' declares that Scotland Yard is investigating the extraordinary ease of a young scientist who invented a method of rendering aeroplanes lireproof. Ho is alleged to be the victim of attacks by foreign emissaries. He perfected his invention early this year, after which he received enquiries from an Knstern Power, and later from Uuropean Powers and firms. lie replied that, ho preferred to keep his invention for England. While testing out an apparatus connected with the lireprobfing of n suit enabling the wearer to face the most intense heat, ho noticed an unusual flame coming from the nozzle, lie kicked it from his assistant's hand, when it exploded, blowing a large hole in tho laboratory wall. An examination revealed that some foreign substance had been placed in the apparatus in order to wreck it. The laboratory drawers had been forced open and "the Jocks broken. Since then the scientist: complains that he has been shadowed, while attempts have been made to decoy liim from his home by means of fictitious telephone messages. Samples and notes liavo been stolen from his laboratory Ho has applied to Scotland Yard for permission to carry firearms on the ground that his life is endangered. Tho "Star" learns that Scotland' Yard has handed over tho case to a special branch dealing with spies and alien's which has several men under observation.
