Sir Cyril Ward arrived from North Island yesterday. The, Hon. G. J. Anderson was a passenger on the Maori from Wellington yesterday morningMr D. McDougall, M.P. for Mataura. was a passenger on the ferry from yesterday. Messrs R. O. Loughnan, K. W. IST. Gibbs, W. H. Cowper, and P. Harle arrived from the North Island yesterday. Mc-ssrs J. M. V. Harding, G. T. Grainger 'Auckland), and T. R. Boccard (Masterton) are staying at Warner's Hotel.
Mr W. H. Dixon, of Christchurch, has been advised that he has been appointed judge in the music sections at the Gore Competitions, which will bo held in May, 1931. Mr F. W. Dawson, manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed Assistant General Manager at the Head Office, Wellington, to replace Mr A. L. Hempton and Mr H. 11. - H. Chalmers, assistant manager at Auckland, will become manager of that branch.—Press Association. A few days ago Bishop Sadlier while walking in the grounds at Bishopdale, Nelson, stumbled and hurt a foot rather seriously, necessitating medical attention. His Lordship was able to attend the Cathedral on Tuesday evening at the opening of Synod, but had to sit while rendinji his presidential address On Wednesday the Bishop was confined to his bed, having been ordered complete rest, and was unable to preside at Synod.
