HORTICULTURAL TRADES.

MEETING OF CANTERBURY COUNCIL. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Council of tho New Zealand Horticultural Trades' Association, held this week, Mr J. N. McLeod presided, and there also were present—Messrs George A. Green (Dominion organiser), A. W. Buxton. C. Gibbons, W. T. Thompson, W. L. Grant, G. J. Macdonald, C. H. Reece, A. 11. Shrubshall, W. Wickens, W. Edginton, C. D. Taylor, T. D. Lennie, W. Halley, and H. Firman (secretary). The annual report referred to the deaths of Mr S. G. Smith, former secretary of the Council, and of Mr W. Jones. The report and the financial statement were adopted. Officers and Sectional Committees. Officers were elected as follows: — President, Mr J. N. McLeod; vicepresidents, Messrs C. Gibbons, C. D. Taylor, T. D. Lennie; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Firman. Sectional committees were set up as follows: Bedding and Tomato Plants—Growers: Messrs T. Barter, W. Halley, C. D. Taylor. Sellers: A. H. Shrubshall, T. D. Lennie, C. Gibbons. Fruit Trees —Messrs T. D. Bonnie, J. H. Cooper, G. Clark, J. Millichamp, C. D. Taylor, W. Edginton. Roso Committee —Messrs J. Macdonald, G. Clark, C. Gibbons, W. Edginton. Bulb Committee —Messrs C. Gibbons, T. D. Lennie, R. S. Shillito, W. Edginton, A. 11. Shrubshall. Landscape, Jobbing, and Gardening— Messrs C. D. Taylor, E. Taylor, A. W. Buxton, C. H. Reece. Florist Committee —Messrs T. D. Lennie, A. 11. Shrubshall, E. S. Shillito, J. H. Robinson, W. Erasmuson, Mesdames Elsom and Cotton. Executive Committee —Chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, Mr W. Edginton, and conveners of section committees. Nomination for Dominion President, Mr V. C. Da vies; and for South Island president, Mr J. N. McLeod. It was decided to apply for affiliation to the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce. Various remits to be discussed by the Dominion Conference were passed.
