ACTIVITIES OF COMMUNISTS.
INCIDENTS AT SYDNEY. CONVICTED MEN GO TO GAOL. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —BX ELECTTBIC TZLEGBAPH—COPTBIGHT.) (Received November 28th, 9.50 p-m.) SYDNEY, November 28. A number of Communists, who were convicted of taking part in an illegal procession in Sydney on November 7th, and who had fines imposed, varying from 20s to 60s each, have decided to go to gaol. Some will join the hunger strikers already there. Insults were hurled at the Magistrate, and they state that the Communists arrested ia connexion with the recent Parliamentary disorders have not yet been dealt with. A motor-lorry, travelling rapidly througli the city to-day, bore several Communists with the Red Flag, but the police made no attempt to stop it.
BRAWL AT TRADES HALL. COMMUNISTS ATTACK LABOUR DELEGATES. SYDNEY, November 28. Using chairs, table-legs, and fists, Communist Party supporters attacked Labour Council delegates in one of the fiercest brawls seen at the Trades Hall for many years. More than a dozen people were injured, including Mr R. lving, the Labour Council organiser, who was hit with a chair while trying to defend Mr J. S. Garden. Furniture was smashed to pieces, and a door was wrenched from its hinges. The police were unable _to gain admittance until someone inside took down one of the doors" and admitted them. The fighting then subsided, but the Communists, were in control, and celebrated by singing the "Red. Flag." No information was .laid and no ar ~ rests were made. Delegates who tried to defend the Government, principally Mr Garden, were early howled down by the packe<l gallery.
