ACTIVITY IN NEW ZEALAND SECURING BETTER BOXERS. (TOHTZD PBZ3S ASSOCIATION—BT BZXCTAXC tileobaph—copraraHT.) (Rooeivftd November 27th, 8.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 27. The boxing writer ior the *"Sun" directs attention to the activity of New , Zealand towards securing better boxeru and wrestlers, and emphasise* that Now Zeal&nd is becoming a factor in the business of importing boxers. Therefore it behoved the Australian promoters to make & counter-move to keep the game flourishing here and to prevent tho best men from crossing the Tasruan and thereby causing a slump in Australia. WAIRONGA SHIELD CONTEST* The team selected by the Otago Boxing Association to contest the Waironga shield at the Civic Theatre on Tuesday next, is considered to be the strongest available with the exception of Lowe. M. Anderson (fly* weight), J. Richmond (bantam), and W. O. Leckie (feather-weight) are all present Otago champions. Both D. Campbell (light* weight), and G. Hart (welter-weight) are good all*round boxers, and Watt (middleweight) is a solid fighter with a good re* cord of wins by the direct method. H. Drew (middle-weight) should provide a spirited bout. Special interest is being taken in tho heavyweight bout between W. Watson, runner-up for the past two years at the Otago championships, and Colin Gardner, the New Zealand amateur champion. Watson has mado rapid progress during the past two years, and it is confidently expected that the heavyweight bout will be one of the best on the programme. In the local team, Ctillimore, the South Canterbury fly-weight champion, will replace Johnston.
