RICCARTON-SOCKBURN TRAMWAY SERVICE.
TO THE EDITOn OF THE PRESS Sir, —Tho time seems opportune to voice dissatisfaction with the lack of consideration given tho residents of Kiccarton who are obliged to use the Upper Rieearton-Sjckburn tramway service. As a constant user of this line, T would like to offer-one or two sng-. gestions''to- the successful candidate. The GlaTonce road-Clyde road residents have been :very fortunate, having the Clyde road service as well as the Sock-, burn' service, but the Upper Riecar-ton-Soekburn tram patrons still have to be content with a half-hourly service, which has been in force now for years. My suggestion is to-' give -us a better service to Sockbur.n. - Surely- our. tram faro of 6d from Sockburn to the Square warran'ts' us 'a little consideration' fii this respect, and at least a quarter-hourly or twenty minutes' service would be greatly appreciated. . And again, the 0.10 p.m. tram from the Square was at one time an express to Clyde road, but for some reason or other the Tramway Board decided to make it an express only to Clarence road, '/his alteration came as a bombshell to the constant users from south of Clyde road, for Clarence road passengers were very well catered for by the Clyde road service, which leaves only five minutes before the express. Once again the passengers for Upper Kiccarton-Sockburn were only a secondary consideration. I therefore urge the successful candidate for Tticcarton to try to restore the 5.15 p.m. express to Clyde road, thereby giving the residents of Upper Riceart on-Sockburn the consideration they arc justly entitled to.-—Yours, etc., TLAY FATTJ.
