SYDNEY THEATRE AS MIDGET GOLF COURSE.
The Haymarket Theatre, for many years one of Sydney's most popular picture houses, and controlled for somo time past by Union Theatres, Ltd., has been cloned down. "DuriDg the paßt few months," it is pointed out, "it has become more and more apparent that the numerous theatres, large and small, between the Town Hall and Railway square, Sydney, were fighting to retain audiences —ona against the other. For thia reason it was obvious that at least one or more of the older theatres would have to go out of business." The theatre will reopen in a few dayß lime as a midget golf course—a change in keeping with the present-day trend of events in America and England, for in both countries numerous theatres are swinging over from pictures to the sporting craze of the moment.
