The Canberra correspondent of the "Sydney Morning Herald" says: There is a growing feeling in Federal political circles that a double dissolution will conic about without any real opposition from the anti-Labour Parties in the Federal Parliament, and a General Election may take place in May or .June next year. Mr .1. 11. Scullin and more of the moderates of the Party will no doubt go to tho country in opposition to the views of the extremists. NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT. SESSSION TO OPEN THIS WEEK. SYDNEY, November 24. The State Parliament is opening this week, and is expected to adjourn over Christmas after passing the Supply and Moratorium Bills. It is stated that steps are being taken for the early establishment of a State lottery. The Government's main financial schemes will not be announced till the Houuo reassembles after the holiday, when financial and unemployment problems will engage its attention. The proposal for the abolition of the Upper House will be left till later la the session. FINANCES OF HOSPITAL AFFECTED. SYDNEY, November 24. The .Royal Prince Alfred Hospital has bene so severely hit by tho financial depression that 200 beds are to be closed this week unless aid is forthcoming. CAULFIELD ELECTION DECIDED. MELBOURNE. November 24. Mr H. Luxton (Nationalist) was elected for the Caulfield seat with 12.033 votes.
Tho runner-up was Mr S. G. Savage (Nationalist), who polled 9388 votes.
