A noisy but triumphant Dedietricli racing Textor car, built in 1903, won the "old-crocks'" race. It covered 56i miles in 83 minutes 55 seconds. A 1903 Mercedes followed 31 minuteß later. A Daimler, built in 1896, also finished, though it lost a tyre and broke the chain on three occasions.

Apart from the abolition of the speed limit, the event was organised to celebrate, the death of the red flag law in 1896, which forced engined vehicles travelling on the roads to bo preceded by a red flag.
