RECTOR OF CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
FURTHER TERM FOR DR. HIGHT. Dr. James Hight was yesterday appointed Rector of Canterbury College tor a further term, by the Canterbury College Board of Governors. Ha has already held the position for three years, the appointment being subject to review at the end of that time. It was decided to renew his appointment at the pleasure of tho Board, and to review it again within three years from February Ist next. Dr. Hight, acknowledging the appointment, expressed tho pleasure it gave him to co-operate with those who had the welfare of the College at heart, and who wished to see it fulfil its proper function in tho community. He had always received the greatest courtesy and help from the members of the Board l'rom the chairman, Mr H. D. Acland, who was chairman when he was appointed, and from tho chairman of tho College Committee. While making acknowledgments he would also include the staff of the College office, and members of the Professorial staff, who had shown him every consideration during the past three years. "I am sure wo all agree that Dr. Hight has filled the office with distinction," remarked the chairman (the Hon. G. J. Smith).
