RAWHITI DOMAIN BOARD.

MEETING LAST NIGHT. A meeting of the Rawhiti Domain Board waa held last night, Mr J. H. Shaw presiding. A letter received trom the Commissioner of Crown Lands intimating that in connexion with the proposed exchange with Mr A. W. Jones, a portion of the Domain for a piece of his property at North Beach, he (the Commissioner) could not his approval. The letter was referred to the committee, with the inclusion of Mr F. D. Muiraon. The Conservator of Forest# wrote stating that the Government Mycologist had reported upon the specimens of diseased foliage from the Domain as follows:—"The trees are infected with the insect Pine Kermes, which sometimes completely defoliates pines." The report 6t the Forest Ranger (Mr Montgomery), upon the trees in the Domain, was discussed at length, and it was decided to leave the report in the hands of the chairman of reserves. The town clerk reported that the recent Are i m the Domain had injured a number of younip trees. • !
