PIGEON FLYING

♦ THREE KACES HELD. The Christchurch Racing Pigeou Society held three races during the past week. The first was from the Bluff. Owing to very bad weather, no birds returned home on the day of liberation. The winning bird, Early Morn, the property of Dr. A. C. MeKillop, flew the distance of 305 miles airline in 12hrs 56min. The second race was from Poriruc,. The winning bird, Black Watch, the property of Cannell and Stobart, flew the distance of 205 miles airline in shrs. Dr. Marshall liberated 320 birds in a wind which helped them to register fairly fast_ times. The third race was also from Porirua. Dr. Marshall liberated 97 birds for this event. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew off its annual produce race from Porirua lust Saturday. Only birds wearing 1929 metal rings were eligible to compete, and each owner had to be the breeder of his own bird. Forty-six birds wore nominated, but only 25 started, divided amongst 10 owners. The birds were liberated by I>r. Marshall at 9..40 a.m. in dull weather and a southwest wind, whirh changed to north-east as the birds neared home. The winner turned out to be F. \V.
