Tucker, waited upon the committee and btressed the necessity for the creation of a sun-bathing area and the erection ot conveniences at the club's pavilion. Tho Finance and By-laws Committee's report, which was adopted, contained 9, letter fiom tho Bouth Brigr.ton Gala Committee asking that tiatfic on Gala Day bje controlled in i\ similar manner to that adopted on previous occasions; asking permission to conduct a cycle race. —It was resolved to recommend that the first request be referred to the inspector for attention, and that the second be not granted. The State t*'ire aud Accident Insurance Office wrote intimating that the Department was unablo to grant an us n rati a payment to Fireman L. Peters. It tvaa decided io recommend that tho Town Clerk should ascertain tho cost of » sickness policy for numbers of the Fire Brigade. A further resolution, that Cr. tiinith should interview the Fire Brigade and Band, and ascertain il quracthiqg could be done to raise niride fax {fireman Peters, was adopted. An opinion from Messrs J. A. liTeshev and Son, in respect to the Council's power to authorise Sunday play on miniature golf links wes received. The Mayor reported that the sub-committee had agreed to grant a license for a. miniature jrolf course on tho foreshore subject to the approval of the Marine Department, the fee to be £lO4 pr»r annum, and the period to be for two veers, with right of renewal for a further term of two years, on the aame terms and conditions.

It was decide*! to support the Oxford Couuty Council's resolution urging the Hos* pi tu 1 to keep its estix&ftteq for the coming; year down to the lowest possible figure in view of the serious financial difficulties under which local bodies and the farming community ar* at present labouring.
