MR FORBES VISITS LEEDS.

Had the lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes been fin earlier riser he would have got a suit of clothes free. He arrived at the Montague Burton Milla at Leeds at 9.40 in the morning, and the directors told him if he had been 10 minutes earlier a suit could have been made to measure and presented to him by 11 o'clock, when he was duo to leave. They added that 50 per cent, of the wools used in the firm's mills came from New Zealand.
Subsequently Mr Forbes carried out inspections at the invitation of the research department of the British Woollen? and Worsteds Association. HeodInterviewed, Mr Forbes said the slieepfarmers of New Zealand were fully aware of tlie criticisms mode nt Yorkshire. He had come to find out tlie exact position, and then report to the woolsrrowers. Th»« Yorkshire research workers had stated there wore weaknesses in New Zealand wool, and as business men it was New Zealand's fob to make an article to suit the EngFV< manufacturers. tie did not favour the fixation of prices, he said. "We have not found anything; to beat the present method market control namely, the law of supply and demand. At the factory where 50 per cent, of the wool used for making garments was from New Zealand, Mr Forbes f,nid fchouoch there was some fine soenery in New Zealand ho thought the woolgrower could not see finer scenery than gnrls making garments of New Zealand wool.
