SHIPPING NOTES. The Foxton is now expected here to-night from Foxton with cattle, and will load on Monday for Foxton. The Storm should arrive here to-morrow from Westport with coal, and on completion of discharge will lay up for annual overhaul. The Waipiata is expected to-morrow from Timaru. She loads on Monday for Auckland, and sails via Wellington. The motor-vessel Opawa is due to-morrow from Blenheim, and will load on Monday for the return trip. The Totara is due on Monday from Tarakohe. After discharging cement she will sail for Timaru and Dunedin, and is due back on Thursday to load for New Plymouth. The Holmdale is timed to load here on Tuesday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Hellenic arrived at Wellington early yestf»rdav morning from Lor Angeles, via Auckland, and is to sail at noon to-day for Brisbane.

The Gale is expected from Timaru on Tue* day and sails in the afternoon for Wei lington, Plcton, and Wanganui. The Breezo is an expected arrival ru Thursday from Dunedin and Timaru, ami wil take in cargo here for Wellington and nui.

The Waiaui is to arrive here on Friday from Timaru to load (or Napier ami Gis* borne. The Maheno is due on Thursday from Duuedin to discharge Melbourne cargo aiul lo load. She is to sail the same day for Wellington and Bluff, and is to leave the named port on the night of December Ist for Melbourne. The Waikouaiti is to arrive here on Wednesday from Dunedin to discharge cargo from Newcastle and Sydney, and to load. She Boils later for Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff, and Sydney. The Tongariro sailed yesterday for Dunedin for further discharge of her Liverpool eargo. The Canadian Conqueror is to leave here to-day for Timaru and Dunedin to discharge and load.

The Runhine. which mailed from Wellington on October 26th. left Caracas Bay on Monday last in continuation of her voyage to London.

After discharge the loads coal for return to Auckland. The Kaimiro is due from Wellington at the end of the week to load coal for Auckland. Tho Kahika is due from Wellington today with general cargo. After discharge she loads coal for return. Tho Kartigi has completed loading umber for Auckland, and sails when the bar moderates. The Orepuki is due from Wellington today with general cargo. She loads timber for Petone. The Titoki is due to-day from Tarakohe to load coal for Wanganui. The TCaitoa is ready to sail for Motueka with timber, and for Nelson with coal.

VISIT OF GOVERNOR GENERAL. In connexion 'Tfilh the official visit to Lyttelton on Monday of the Gover-nor-General, L,ord Bled; sloe, and Lady Blerlisloe. the Mayor (Mr W. T. Foster) invites citizens to be present m the school-ground at the Lyttelton District High School at 10.15 a.m. to meet and welcome their Excellencies. Swimming. Tlie J.ytcelton Men's Swimming Ciub will open the season with races at Corsair Bay this afternoon. Cricket. A cricket match will he played ai Officers' Point this afternoon between teams representing the Young Mens Club and the Lyttelton Miniature Rifles Cricket Club. Road Racing. An open cycle road race will be held (.his afternoon from Lytteltou to Teddington and back. A race for boys under sixteen years to Rapaki and back will also be held. Seamen's Institute. Instead of the weekly concert a whist drive, arranged by Mr F. Heal, was held on Thursday at the Seamen's Institute. About 40 men were present. A pleasant evening was spent. Mrs F. Heal afterwards distributed the prizes. Refreshments provided by the ladies were dispensed at the conclusion of the play. Ladies' Swimming Club Jubilee. The Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and it has been arranged that following tho opening of the swimming season, which will take place at the Corsair Bay baths on Saturday, December 6th, with a series of swimming events, a jubilee high tea will be held at the Unanimity Lodge Hall in the evening. The committee trusts that as many of the original members of the club and ex-members as possible will attend this function. The Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club is one of the oldest established clubs in Lyttelton. Scout Dance. The Lyttelton Scouts held a successful dance in the Holy Trinity Schoolroom on Thursday evening for the purpose of raising funds for the purchase of new oars for the Scout boat. Miss D.
