ROBBERY IN SHIRT FACTORY.
£IOO WORTH OF GOODS MISSING. At a conservative estimate. £IOO worth of goods were taken l>y thieves who broke into the shirt factory of Hutchison and Co.. Ltd., 196 Wordsworth street, Sydenham, on 1 uesday evening. The haul comprised rolls of silk and other materials, and the robbery was discovered by the factory manager, Mr C. W. Barrow, when he arrived at the office on Wednesday morning. Opening the door of the office, Mr Barrow found heaped up inside ail amount of material, some towels, and an overcoat belonging to a member of the staff. Investigating,, he discovered one of the back doors of the premises standing ajar. The lock of this was badly twisted, and there WW©
marks showing that a heavy instrument had been used. Another back door had also received the attention of the marauders, for some screws had been extracted from it. Large bolts inside, however, had foiled the attempt Thu thieves, in the opinion of the management of the factory, made away with about £IOO worth of goods. It was difficult to discover the exact amount until a stocktaking had been made, but evidently heavy inroads had been made into the various piles of goods. In particular, some rolls of silk, valued at £25, were missing. So far, onlv one clue to the identity of the thieves has been discovered. They worked with a inotor-car This was volunteered by a person lives next the factory. At about 10 o clock on Tuesday evening he heard two men talking in the right-of-way that, runs by the premises. One said: 'Wed better get now." The other said j "No, I'll have another look round. The person who heard this was in bed afc the time, and a little later he could distinguish the sound of a motor-car,
which appeared to stop at the entrance ot the right-of-way, arid' drive. . off quickly. The fact of this motor-car lias been connected ' with another burglary that occurred on Tuesday night, when a hairdresser's shop at. Spreydor. was entered. In this instance neighbours again heard the sound of a motor-car
