TELEPHONE EXCHANGE AT VATICAN.
BLESSING OF THE POPE. {TOUTED r:iT.j!3 ASSOCIATION—ET HLECTHIC TELEOBAfU —COPYRIGHT.) (Received November 20th, 8.50 p.m.) LONDON, November 19. The Home correspondent of "The Times" says that, declaring his desire to be in the vanguard of progress, the Popo blessed the Vatican telephone exchange. He released a lever setting the apparatus in motion, and thanked the donors, an American firm, whose gift included the Pope's personal telephone, which is of solid gold, adorned with his crest and symbols of the four Evangelists. The exchange's capacity is 900 numbers. For the Vatican City's size, this is the most extensive of any State in the world. A special device prevents the Pope being called up unless he so desires.
