AWARDS MADE. Awards made in the three essay eon:- | petitions in connexion with Health j Week were announced at a meeting of the Esßay Sub-Committee of the Health Week Executive held yesterday after- I noon. Mr E. Philpott Crowther presided and there were present—Messrs P. M. Baker and M. Slater. The awards made in the competition for which prizes were provided by the Dairymen's Association, Mr J. Taylor, and the Health Week Executive were: R. G. Nicholson, St. Andrew's College • • • • , A. Blakely, St. Andrew's College .. i. Derek James Patterson, 'Westenra terrace, Cashmere . . . . 3 Certificates were awarded to Jack McGillivray (9 years of ago), 101 Osborne terrace, North Beach; Gladys Rose, Standard VI. East Christchurch School; Ngaire Hudson, Standard VA, Elmwood School; and Jean Christie, Standard VI, East Christchurch School. Dr. W. H. Simpson and Dr. L>. JL. Curri'e judged the essays entered for the New Health Society's ptize of £-s. They awarded the prize to Ethel Maude Bennetts, Osborne terrace, North Beach. In both these competitions the subject set was: "The Food Value of Milk Colonel F. W. W. Dawson, Assistant Medical Officer of Health, judged the numerous essays sent in by P u P l Jf attending the primary schools. These essays described the health and other films screened at the Civic Theatre during Health Week. Standard IV.: Thelrr.a Williams, Douglas Lumb. Somerfield street School. Stanaard Vl.:* Roy Prebble, Edgar Blackmore. Standard V.: Edward Baruett, Hilda Stewart. Standard IV.: Hazel Dobbs, Colin McDonald. Standard III.: Patricia Morrison, Veryl Daniel. A vote of thanks was accorded Colonel Dawson. Arrangements are to be made for the presentation of the certificates at the Civic Theatre on a date to be announced.
