PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club fletr off a race from Porirua last Saturday. On# hundred and sixty-three birds were seat, divid.* ed amongst 10 owners. The lofts vere divitj-' ed into two- sections, and .vest. THe birds were liberated; by Dr. Marshall at 9.30 a.m. in dull, overcast weather, and a strongwind which changed to nor'-easfc a* the birds neared home. Owing to tile adverse conditions the race proved fairly hard, tbe highest velocity bcinj gained by R. Browning's bird No. 059," which traversed • distance of *2ll miles 686 yards air-line ia 6hrs Somin 41sec. .The following is thei order they finished in.each section:— - * WESTERN SECTION.
