+ IMPROVEMENTS TO OXFORD STREET. A long deferred work was. put. in hand yesterday, when a start, was made with replacing the oh) wooden kerbiiig and stono channelling in Oxford street, above Loudon street, with modern concrete kerbing and side-channel. The section in front of tbo l.yttelton District High School is already boxed in readiness for the concrete to bo pal in to-day. Sailing. Tho Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club will hold races for Takapuua sailing pnnts, and an open oveut to-morrow afternoon. Harbour Light Theatre.
"Hot i'or Paris," a highly amusing remedy, starring: Victor McLaglcn and IH Brcndel, will Lio repealed at the Harbour l.iglil Theatre to-night, together with a Fo.\ comedy, news, and .songs. To-morrow "l>an?ea' Alio.v," a comedy romance featuring Glen Tryun and Otis Harlan, will be .screened. The supporting programme includes a Paramount Kcws, Oswald C'artuon, und comedy. Concert. A concert organised by Mrs C. Priddy was given in St. Saviour's Parish Hall on Wednesday evening, to a large aud appreciative audience. An exhibition of dub-swinging was given by pupils of Mr Pegg, Y.M.C.A., and was most effective. An amusing playlet, eutitled "Sauco nnd Savoury," given by Miss Lucv Cowan's pupils, was well received, as was also the tap-dancing by Miss Dorothy White's pupils. Others who contributed to the programme were Mrs Edith Cowan, Misses Nell Gillespie Eilc.cu Shadford, Jessie Anderson, l<nd Mr Elmsby Williams—elocutionary items—Mesdames Pearce, M. McClelland and the Misses Betty and Juyce Brooke vocal numbers, aud Mr Clemens Jazz Orchestra. Tvlrs G. Brooke and Miss Peters were accompanists.
