A Cornish mystery has taken a startling turn, with the announcement j'.V the Chief Constable that Mrs Alice J homas, wife of n farmer of Trenhorne, near Launeeston, died from arsenical poisoning. Mrs Thomas was removed to the Plymouth Hospital on ■November 4th and died on November oth. A post-mortem examination was held on November 7th, and the burial took place on November Bth, the inquest being delayed pending the medical report on the organs, which were removed from the bod v. the next development was the disappearance of Mrs Annie llcarne, whose aye is between 40 and 44 years. She is stated to bo good-looking. with bobbed hair. She is believed to be the widow of mi arinv surgeon. As a neighbour and triend of Mr i .id Mrs I homas she attended the latter during her illness and was present at the funeral on November Bth. She hired a motor-car on November 11th and went to ji coast resort. She has not been seen since. A search of her house revealed that she scribbled the form of a will, which was pencilled on a single sheet of notepnper and pined on the kitchen table. Also there were letters, includ'"K °' U! from an auctioneer concerning the disposal of her property. The police in searching the cliffs on November 17th, found a coat resembling hers, but they believe she is still alive, and thev are anxious to interview her in reference to Mrs Thomas's illness. Mrs Hearne s tile appears to have Ik?en full of trngedv. tier husband is believed to have died three days after their marriage in 1920. She nursed during their last illnesses her father, mother, mint. sister, and one friend.. She gave the best part of her life to helping others.
