INSANE. MINISTER KILLS MAN.
SUFFERED FROM DELUSIONS. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—B"S ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) IjONDON, November 17. The Kev. Peter Carmichael Mnrr, of the Church of Scotland, was arrested lit Leith oil August 30th on a charge of murdering James Dalgleish, whom ho shot with a revolver. Dalgleish was walking along the street when shots were heard, and he fell to the ground and died before reaching hospital. The medical evidence at : trial disclosed that Marr believed himself to be a chosen instrument of Providence. Several doctors gave evidence that Marr was suffering from delusional insanitv, and believed his act was justifiable. Letters Marr wrote to the Lord Advocate contained remarkable passag.es. One declared: "I am entirely blameless, and can resume my duties with still greater devotion, and deeper fervour and spiritual Understanding.'' The verdict was that Marr was insane, and he was sentenced to be detained during the King's pleasure.
