The financial statement showed that during October, 22 ex-service patients had received attention at the Upper Sanatorium, Cashmere Hills, at Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer Springs, 'it Ashburton Hospital, at Timnru Hospital. at Wostland Mental Hospital, at the llannerdale Home, nt the Coronation Hospital, at the Sunnyside Mental Hospital, at tiTe Christchureh Hospital, and as out-patients; and that the expenditure on clothing, tobacco, hospital requisites, extra food, motor hire, amusements, atid grants to the various matrons for miscellaneous purchases had totalled £123 18s Od. In addition to ihe foregoing, expenditure on lied Cross Club work, which included moving pictures, furnishings, cards, newspapers, books, magazines, nnd other amusements, had totalled £74 is Bd. Major Barnes's report for October on mental hospital patients was received. The report stated that two men had been discharged and that ten men had been admitted, the numbers at the end of the montli being 36 men taking cigaiettes, 46 men taking tobacco, and G men taking frurt. If was resolved that the chairman be recommended to the New Zealand Kxeeutive to fill the vacancy on the list of vice-presidents caused by the death of Mr Flesher, and that Mrs H. H. Smith be nominated as a member of the executive. fSister Christian's report on peacetime work for October was before the meeting. The report stated that the examinations in the Sheffield district had been completed. All students who had sat for examination had passed, several gaining honours. It was resolved thnt letter of thanks be sent to Sister Christian. It Tvas nlso resolved that a letter of thanks be sent to each of the persons mentioned in the report who had helped to organise classes.
