CASE OF DISTRESS.

PROVISION FOR ADDINGTON FAMILY. Assistance for the widow and family of Mr H. Hessy, a resident of Addington, whose death occurred recently, is to be people of the Addington and Spreydon districts who met last evening to decide on means of helping what was described as a deserving cause. About fifty residents attended, Mr J. S. Barnett presiding. It was decided that a fair should be held at the Addington School grounds on December 20th, the proceeds to go towards assisting the widow _ and family, and a committee, comprising Messrs Barnett, B. Sloane, W. H. Griffiths, W. Jenkins, J. Dempsey, J. Turrell, J. Ealam, and J. Moore, and Mesdames Peddie, Moore, Wotton, Griffiths, Sloane, Morris, and Harper, was elected to make the necessary arrangements. , Various stalls were decided on, ana the committee decided to meet next Wednesday evening.
