BANK MANAGER ADMITS THEFTS.

William Scheel, manager of the Chatham National Bank, was specially selected by the directors to catch a thief who* was committing peculations, Scheel himself had been dipping into the till for seven years, and the humour of the situation bothered him, so he confessed, giving the date and amount of every theft, totalling over £BOOO. The police described him as the most helpful embezzler they had ever dealt with, and the Judge let him off with one year's imprisonment.
