DAMAGES CLAIM.
JUDGMENT FOR £IOSO. Crsass ussociiTios rsLtaßtuA WELLINGTON. November 14. Judgment was entered to-day for plaintiff in the case in the jury awarded Mrs Rose May Blake £IOSO against L&wson John August, as a result of the death of her husband following a collision at Petone. - It was stated that the jury had made the award under the misapprehension that the insurance company would only pay up to £IOOO. His Honour, Mr Justice Reed, said he was surprised that the jury, having found for plaintiff, had not awarded greater damages. He laughed at counsel's remark that the additional* £SO had been awarded as punishment. He said no doubt it was a compromise verdict. Costs were fixed according to scale and his Honour certified for an extra day of trial at £ls 15s, with witnesses' expenses and disbursements.
