Thomas Henry Billing, theatre proprietor, and three men employed by him : were prosecuted by the Registrar of the Electric Wiremen'a Board for performing unlicensed work in connexion with the electrical installation it» the Majestic Theatre, Te Aroha. there were six charges against Billing, including that of withholding iinformation. and three separate' charges against John William George Capstick, William Reginald Caldwell, and Eric Darby. Evidence was given by the Borough Electrical Inspector that fuses varying from five to ten times the necessary strength had been used, and on one occasion witness had been severely shaken by comihg. into contact with faulty wiring. He said the state of affairs at tne theatre constituted a very serious danger. ' Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., after commenting on the gravity of the offences, lined Billing £5 with costs £ll for having permitted work to be done bv unlicensed men.
