Dunedin —The weather w.:s fine in the orsrly part of yesterday ffiorripj, but dull and overcast for the remaiiider of the day, with a fresh wind from the north-east. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometer is still low, but fairly steady, the reading last evening being 29.30. Forecast. Genera] Situation —A deep depression now covers the Tasman Sea. the centre line being near to the south-west extremity of New Zealand. Barometers are rising over east ern Australia.

Winds —Strong northerly winds to gains, backing later to west' and eouth-west in the far south. Seas (N.Z. Waters) —Rather rough generally ■i'iisman. Sea —Strong northerly winds in the Eastern Tasman, backing to west' and south-west in about 24 hours; seas rough.
