TERRITORIAL FORCE.

EXAMINATIONS FOR PROMOTION.

Successful candidates in the examinations held last September for promotions in. the territorial force, were:— Captain H. Kipponberger> Ist Battalion Canterbury Regiment, qualified for promotion to tlie rank of major. Captain E. C. D. Withell, Ist Battalion Canterbury Regiment, partial pass in the same examination.

Lieut. G. E. Page, Southern Depot New Zealand Engineers, qualified for promotion to the rank of captain. Lieutenant R. Faville, Southern Depot New Zealand Engineers, qualified for promotion to the rank of captain. Lieutenant N. W. M. Hawkins, Ist Battalion Canterbury Regiment, qualified for promotion to the rank of captain.

Lieutenant C. "V. Ferris, 3rd Cadot Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, qualified for promotion to the rank of captain. Lieutenant M. Leadbetter, 3rd Cadet Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, qualified for promotion to the rank of captain.

Lieutenant J. T. Burrows, Ist Cadet Battalion Canterbury Regiment, partial pass in the same examination. Lieutenant J. 6, Fraser, 4th Cadet Battalion, Canterbury Kegiment, partial pass. Lieutenant L. M. King, N.Z.M.C., qualified for promotion to the rank of captain.

The results of the examination for first appointments are not yet available. There were 38 candidates sitting in Christchurch, thirteen of whom took the examination for first appointments. The promotions will be made as vacancies in the force occur.
