TWO OTHERS FAILReo Leaves Competitors Standing in Rangiora County Council's Unique Test of Power and Strength & U& <(1 SF 5^ -at \\YAi \UV\W B mass?**' Here is a story with a moral—Some months ago the v Rangiora County Council requested tenders for the supply of a new truck; these tenders were finally reduced to three—Reo, and two other trucks well-known throughout New Zealand. The Rep was the most expensive of the three. ' The Council then decided on a test to choose between these three; li yards of shingle were to be picked up by each truck in turn from the 'Ashley river bed and carried to the road a mile away, Pairticular care was taken that the test shoiUd be exactly the same for each, and the load was measured every time by a qualified surveyor. The first competitive truck was loaded and the ; driver climbed in and tried to start. The truck refused to move an inch, and finally had to be unloaded before it could extract itself. The second competitive truck, a six-speed job, then attempted the test. After being bogged three times, it finally, with great difficulty, reached the road. Then came the Reo—a standard four-speed ,11ton truck. Bucking and rolling, it carried its load without a moment's faltering, with the engine ticking over almost at idling speed. Then it gave a repeat of this wonderful performance,—and the Council were so impressed that they purchased two Reo's instead of one ! The moral is this. First, that the little extra price of a Reo makes a difference that's immense. And secondly, when you are purchasing a truck, test the Reo out under actual working conditions against its competitors. We like to prove its superiority. ' Do not fail to see the display of Reo Speed Wagons at the A. & P, Show SPEED WAGONS W. Am McLAREN & CO. LTD. 108 ST. ASAPH STREET, CHRISTCHURCH 'Phone 36-814 P.O.
