ISLAND SCHOONER WRECKED.
MEN'S HAZARDOUS VOYAGE. (By Radio—Special to Press Association.) (Received November 12th, 5.5 p.n».) APIA, November 11. The auxiliary schooner Bahra, while lying off the Pukapuka Island passage at daylight on October 31st, waiting for a load of copra for Apia, was struck by sudden north-east squalls, which smashed her against a reef. The starboard side of the vessel was stove in, and she was thrown up on to the reef, becoming a total wreck. Her crew of 13 were all rescued after strenuous efforts were made by natives in canoes. Captain Delmer, who is 65 years of age, the engineer, George Mann, and two natives of the crew left Pukapuka in a 19-foot open ship's boat, carrying a small sail. They arrived at Apia at D o'clock this morning in an exhausted condition after a hazardous trip. They were drenched with water and spray the whole time.
