BAND CONCERTS

Good music, presented by a band, again attracted a large crowd to the now City Rotunda in Poplar Crescent last evening, when the Woolston Band gave the second ot the serieb of concerts which are being organised by South Inland Motors, Ltd. Additional intercut was given the evening by the guessing competition that is being held by the above motor company. Patrons were invited to estimato the number of miles that would be covered by a car that had been jacked up in the South Island Motors' showroom, and which it was intended should be allowed to run from Monday last until Friday evening. The programme given by the band was as follows:—March, "Mephistophnjes" (Douglas): selection from Mozart (Wright and Round); one-step, ''Chinkee T.or" (Franklin); cornet solo, "Nightingale" (Moss), Bandsman R. Ohlsen: waltz. "Sleepy Valley 1 ' (Treripe) ; burlesque, "Laughing Marionette" (Collins): selection, "Sir Henry Bishop's Songs": march. "Sydney Park" (Ord Hume).

With the splendid weather at present prevailing, the open air band fpr which the Woolston Band has been engaged by South Island Motors. Ltd.. are proving extremely popular. To-night the programme will comprise: March. "Cavalry of the Clouds" (Alford): overture, "Zampa" (Harold): fox-trot, "Hot Toasted Pennuts" (Tobins) : trombone solo, "Fire Fly." Bandsman K. Williams: song, "Love's Old Sweet Song" (Bingham); fantasy. "In a Chinese Temple Garden" (Ketelby): one-step, "Chinkce Lee" (Franklin); march. "Harlpquin" (Riramer) : God Save the King.
