ADVISORY COMMITTEE SUGGESTED. The neoewiity for the existence 0* •ome tody to which matters of taste in connexion with gifts to the City could be referred, has been discussed At different periods by members of associations concerned with the preservation of the amenities of the City. Swch an advisory committee was set Dp in connexion with the Captain Cook statue. At yesterday's meeting of the executive of the Christchureh Beautifying Association the subject arose as the outcome of a suggestion that the Association should have a representative on such a committee. Cr. Annie Fraer said that the committee referred to was not a permanent one. The opinion was expressed that a permanent committee should be set up.

After some discussion it was resolved: "That this Association recommends the City Council to set ut> a permanent Advisory Committee in connexion with gifts to the City, and that this Association would welcome an opportunity to nominate one of its members to bet on stich committee."
