One of the last bqoks which Sir John Simon read—and rc-read—before leaving for India was Mr Thompson's "An Indian "Day. 1 ' Mr Thompson workod as an educational missionary in India for many years, His Inter bonk—"These Men, Thy Friends"—has been described by Mr Comptpn Mackenzie as "the noblest piece of fiction directly inspired by «emoe in tb# Great War."
