Sir Alfred Robin, who has arrived in Christchurch for a brief stay, » afc Warner's Hotel. Mr James Wi Hodds (Wellington) and Mr F. Johnston (Dunedin) are staj'ing at the Clarendon Hotel. The Rt. Rev. Campbell West-Watson, Bishop of Christchurch, returned from tne North Island yesterday.
Among tho guests at Warner's Hotel are:—Messrs J. Hislop (Wellington) and A. C. Feilding (London). . Recent arrivals at the United Service Hotel are: —Messrs D. Stewart (Auckland), E. J. Rundle (Greymouth), C. A. Crosher (Auckland), and A. Ogilvie (Fairlie). Colonel J. W. Hutchen, Secretary to the Western Sarnoan Administration, and Mr S. J. Smith, chief clerk, Department of External Affairs, leave this morning for Dunedin.
At the annual meeting of the North Canterbury Headmasters' Association, Mr W. Balch (Shirley School) was elected president, and Mr L. Bi Bradstock (Bunvood) honorary secretary.
Messrs Colin and John Acland, sons of Dr. H. T. D. Acland, havo returned to the former from a trip to Great Britain, and the latter from a visit to Sydney * The Rt. Rev. Isaac Richards, Bishop of Dunedin, passed through Christchurch yesterday on his return to Dunedin from Wellington. He was accompanied by the Ven. Archdeacon W. A. R. Fitchctt, Archdeacon of Dunedin. *
On behalf of £he shipping companies of Lytteltoii, Captain T. A. Dykes, late Government Marine Superintendent at Lyttelton, who has retired on superannuation, and intends visiting England early next year, was presented with three solid leather suit-cases and a travelling rug. The presentation was made by Captain H. Monro.
