STRAND THEATRE.
Of the actors who have won names for themselves on the screen in recent years, one of the foremost is Lon Ohaney, famed for his interpretation of the hunchback in the immortal feature, "Tho Hunchback of Notro Dame." Chaney stars in the main attraction at the Strand Theatre this week, "He Who Gets Slapped," and is supported by tho beautiful Norma Shearer and John Gilbert. The story is that of a scientist who has been thwarted in his life's ambition, and his subsequent revenge. The interpretation is not pretty—it is not meant to bo, but the fundamental cruelty of life is vividly portrayed. The dobonair Norman Kerry stars in the second attraction, "The Claw," a picture which has won a high place in the ranking of recent film productions. Claire Windsor plays opposite Kerry in a rolo entirely Miitcd to her style of acting. The story of adventure, love, and danger on the African veldts, and the insane jealousy of a man for his wife, it lends itself to the thrilling incidents which crowd its screening.
Supporting the two features are n nows film, snapshots, a comedq, and a crossword puzzle.
