LONDON, December 7. The Postmaster-General is consulting the' Dominions to-morrow with reference to the date and personnel of the conference between cable and wireless interests. It is doubtful whether it is possible to hold the conference before Christmas. , . Tiio Pacific Cable Board explains that the 45 per cent, loss of traffic between Britain and Australia and New Zealand leaves the balance still in favour of cables. . The concensus of opinion among both cable and wireless directors deprecates the cutting of rates and favours cooperation and pooling.

A WARTIME INCIDENT.

LONDON, December 7. The Pacific Cable Board, referring to Signor Marconi's statement, points out that the cruiser Nurnborg cut the cable at Fanning Island on September 7th, 1914. Emergency communication was established on September 22nd and the cable whs in full working order on October 30th. This continued throughout the war.
