NAVAL LIMITATION.
BRITAIN'S POSITION,
(BT cable— peiss association—coptbiqht.) (AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z CABLS ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON, December 7,
In the House of Commons, arising from President Coolidge's suggestion that the British and American viewpoints were in accord before the Geneva Conference, Mr G. Locker-Lampson told Viscount Sandow that there were no conferences before the meeting, while those held during the Conference were informal and private, and were not recorded. Commander Kenworthy: Will the Admiralty's prepared scheme for a reduction be submitted to the preliminary Commission? Mr Locker-Lampson: The Govern-, ment will not lose any opportunity for furthering limitation. The British representative has discretion to bring down the proposals at the February meeting if it is propitious. Colonel Howard-Bury: Have not we reduced more than anybody else, and, in view of increases elsewhere, will you see that there are no further reductions? Mr Locker-Lampson: I cannot answer that.
